Guidelines for Submissions to the Asian Economic Journal

Instructions for Submissions

Manuscripts should be submitted in a single file (including text, notes, references, figures, and tables) in MS-WORD (doc) or ADOBE ACROBAT (pdf) format. Once a paper has been accepted for publication, authors who submitted their papers in ADOBE ACROBAT (pdf) format will be required to provide the final publication version of their paper in either MS-WORD (doc) or LaTeX. The preferred format for the final publication version of graphs and charts is eps format, but EXCEL format is also acceptable. EXCEL format is acceptable for the final publication version of Tables. Authors providing the final publication version of their paper in LaTeX will also be required to provide a hardcopy version of their paper.

For the purpose of the Asian Economic Journal, 'Asia' is defined as Brunei, Cambodia, China, East Timor, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Macao, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. Any paper that is judged by the Editorial Board of the Asian Economic Journal not to have a sufficient connection to one or more of these countries will not be accepted for publication in the Asian Economic Journal.

Manuscripts must be typed double-spaced according to the following format:

1. The first page should contain the article's title, author's
   name and affiliation, complete mailing address, and a
   suggested running head (abbreviated form of the title).

2. The second page should contain a short abstract of
   approximately 100 words, a list of key words and JEL codes.

3. Footnotes, references, tables, and figures should be placed
   on separate pages at the end of the manuscript and properly
   numbered.

4. Figures should be provided in camera-ready format.

5. References in the text and in footnotes should follow the
   author-date format; for example, (Becker, 1964). References
   should be typed according to the following formats:

    Hibbs, D., 1977, Political parties and macroeconomic policy.
    The American Political Science Review, 7, December, pp.
    1467-1487.

    Desai, Padma, Ed., 1883, Marxism, Central Planning, and the
    Soviet Economy
. MIT Press, Cambridge, MA.

    Terrones, M., 1987, Macroeconomic Policy Cycle Under
    Alternative Electoral Structures: A Signaling Approach.
    Unpublished.

Papers accepted for publication become copyright of the East Asian Economic Association and Blackwell Publishers Ltd and authors will be asked to sign a transfer of copyright form. In signing the tranfser of copyright, it is assumed that authors have obtained permission to use any copyrighted or previously published material. All authors must read and agree to the conditions outlined in the Copyright Assignment Form, and must sign the Form or agree that the corresponding author can sign on their behalf. Articles annot be published until a signed Copyright Assignment Form has been received.
