Information about the EAEA's International Conventions


Since 1988 the East Asian Economic Association has held international conventions biannually. This page provides information about upcoming and past conventions below.


Upcoming Conventions:
The Eleventh International Convention will be held on 15-16 November 2008 at the Diamond Hotel in Manila, Philippines. The Convention theme is Regional Risk Management in East Asia. The Convention Registration Form is available from the following link: Download EAEA11 Registration Form

The 11th Convention will be co-sponsored by the Philippine Economic Society (PES) and the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS). The Program Committee has accepted 144 papers on a wide range of economic issues as they affect East Asia. We expect about 200 participants, mostly from various universities and research institutions in East Asia and Southeast Asia. The Keynote Speaker will be Dr. Barry Bosworth of the Brookings Institution. A welcome dinner on November 14 will be hosted by Central Bank of the Philippines Governor Amando Tetangco Jr. at the BSP grounds. On November 15, the Asian Development Bank led by its President Harushiko Kuroda will host dinner for the participants. Other major partners include the Asia Foundation and the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and east Asia (ERIA). The major partners will be sponsoring the lunches of the conference for the participants. Session titles will include the following:

Information about the last six conventions is provided below. Electronic copies of the programs for all five conventions and the papers from the last three conventions are also available for download. Please note that paper downloads are archived in zip format to reduce size, but are rather large and require a high-speed internet connection to download. All programs and papers are in pdf format and require the Adobe Reader. In some cases Chinese, Japanese, or Korean fonts may be required to read these pdf files.
